protecting actors |
Protecting Actors is a new initiative designed to help safeguard the interests of UK actors.
Protecting Actors was formed as a way to combat the increasing number of production companies who systematically convince actors to work for them under false pretexts; promising fees, expenses or footage they later fail to deliver.
Protecting Actors has been setup to address just one of these issues, the fact that many production companies promise participants a DVD copy of the film, but fail to deliver this in a timely fashion, if at all.
What does the Protecting Actors shield mean?
Employers casting a production can request a 'Protecting Actors Shield', which can be displayed alongside their
casting, if and only if they agree to the Protecting Actors Casting
Agreement. Companies displaying the shield agree to provide all actors involved in the production with a
copy of the final film within 6 months of completing filming. Companies failing to provide copy of the film will be
in breach of the Protecting Actors Casting Agreement and as such
will be publicly blacklisted on the Protecting Actors website and legal action may be taken on the actors' behalf.
