About Protecting Actors
Protecting Actors is a new initiative designed to help safeguard the interests of UK actors.
Protecting Actors was formed as a way to combat the increasing number of production companies who systematically convince actors to work for them under false pretexts; promising fees, expenses or footage they later fail to deliver.
Protecting Actors has been setup to address just one of these issues, the fact that many production companies promise participants a DVD copy of the film, but fail to deliver this in a timely fashion, if at all.
What does the Protecting Actors shield mean?
Employers casting a production can request a 'Protecting Actors Shield', which can be displayed alongside their casting, if and only if they agree to the
Protecting Actors Casting Agreement. Companies displaying the shield agree to provide all actors involved in the production with a copy of the final film within 6 months of completing filming. Companies failing to provide copy of the film will be in breach of the
Protecting Actors Casting Agreement and as such will be publicly blacklisted on the Protecting Actors website and legal action may be taken on the actors' behalf.
CASTING DIRECTORS
Why should I request a shield?
By displaying the Protecting Actors shield you agree to provide all actors involved in the production with a copy of the final DVD. The shield is a great way to display your committment to the cast involved in your production by upholding basic standards of professionalism.
How does my production get a shield?
If you are willing to abide by the Protecting Actors Casting Agreement you will be given permission to display a Protecting Actors Shield alongside your casting requirement. To receive your shield please register your casting.
Who has signed up already?
Companies are signing the Protecting Actors Casting Agreement on a daily basis, click here to see a snapshot of the most recent people to sign the agreement.
ACTORS
How does the shield help protect me?
Companies displaying the Protecting Actors Shield have agreed to the Protecting Actors Casting Agreement. Should they fail to abide by these terms, we can publicly blacklist the company and may take legal action on behalf of the actors. Many casting sites subscribe to our blacklist and agree to block employers who breach these terms and conditions.
How do I report a breach of the Protecting Actors Casting Agreement?
If you have worked with a company which has signed up to the Protecting Actors Casting Agreement but has failed to deliver a copy of the end DVD please report the company.
Important Note: Known Scammers
Protecting Actors has just learnt that WildKard Talent and Modeldash (one and the same website) are attempting to scam actors into parting with money to access fictional casting information. We urge all actors to stay clear of these rogues.
